Our story

We began with one mat and a question.

What if strength and softness weren’t opposites? VAYU started in a small Lisbon studio in 2021, with a handful of teachers who believed movement should feel like coming home.

“We wanted a place where a tired body is met with patience — not pressure.”

Maya Reyes, co-founder

Maya was a dancer recovering from a spinal injury. Dario was a strength coach watching clients burn out. Between them they saw the same thing: people didn’t need harder programs, they needed kinder ones — taught by humans who remember your name.

Today more than 180 teachers share rituals, journeys and live classes with 12,400 students in 90 countries. The studio in Lisbon is still open every morning at seven.

What we believe

Three quiet promises

Presence

Every class begins with the breath. We teach you to notice before you push.

Patience

Progress is slow and that’s the point. Our journeys are built for years, not weeks.

People

Real teachers, real replies, real community. Nobody practises alone here.
