Flexibility is how far a joint can be moved. Mobility is how far you can control it. Lifters don’t need to do the splits — they need strength at the end of their range.
Why it matters under the bar
A deep squat needs ankles that bend, hips that rotate and a trunk that stays braced. Passive stretching improves range, but only loaded, controlled work makes that range usable.
Three drills to start
Try slow tempo goblet squats, 90/90 hip switches and wall-supported ankle rocks. Two sets each before you lift is enough.
Treat mobility like strength training: progress it, track it and be patient.
